Facebook is an amazing
social media channel where there are always lots of new features. However, that
also can make it difficult to keep track of everything that’s happening. So,
we’ve created our top ten list of things you might not know about Facebook.
1. 1.55 billion monthly active Facebook users
The social network has
1.55 billion users, which is a 14 percent increase year on year. What does this

2. Facebook’s ‘friend finder’ feature in illegal in Germany
This feature crawls
your email list and then sends invitations to all of your friends who are not
yet in the social network. Earlier this month, the federal court of justice in
Germany determined that Facebook’s “friend finder” feature constitutes
harassment, upholding decisions previously issued by two lower courts.
3. Facebook Messenger could come to the Mac as its own app
According to TechCrunch, a Facebook employee has been spotted
using the Messenger Mac app. Here’s a photo of what the app seems to look like:
4. You don’t need a Facebook account to use Messenger
Most people don’t know
that you don’t need a Facebook account to be able to use the app. Also, there
is a stand-alone website for Messenger!
5. You can request an Uber from Messenger
Tab the more button in
a conversation and select ‘transportation’. From there you’ll be able to ask
for a ride.
6. You can make a payment (U.S only for now)
Facebook Messenger
allows you to transfer money to your friends. Users who add their debit card
information in Messenger’s settings section can send payments by starting a
conversation with one or more friends, picking the “$” icon that appears in the
row above the software keyboard, and tapping “Pay.”
7. Share photos instantly with facial recognition
Facebook Photo Magic feature uses facial recognition; perfect on a
Sunday morning to share all your pics from the night before!
8. Downloads all your Facebook data in a ZIP file
This includes,
contacts, photos, video, posts… Really handy if you are thinking of closing
your account and you want to keep a copy of everything.
