Researchers at the University of Michigan and Cornell have created a special material called "magnetoelectric multiferroic" according to Thrillist. The material has huge potential because it will allow computers to operate using just a few quick pulses of electricity rather than a constant stream of energy like the chargers we use today.
Our devices will need 100 times less energy to run and will last much longer before they need to be recharged.

One of the lead researchers said this is still a few years away from possibly happening, but it's still extremely exciting to think that in a few years we could use Facebook and Instagram for hours without having to charge!
