UNICODE; v.4, 0, 5, 1 Message in Internet Explorer

Question:I"m getting a UNICODE; v.4, 0, 5, 1 message. When it is a blank page I go to close it and the pages start to stack up and I can't close them.

Answer: This error may be cause by some sort of Internet Explorer addon. Try to disable your addons to see if this is the case. Go to Tools then Manage Addons. Click on each addon in the list and then click the Disable button on the lower right for each one. Then restart IE and see if the message goes away. If it does then you can enable the addons one at a time until you find the one that causes the problem.

If you want to do a quick check you can right click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and choose Start without Add-ons so you don"t have to manually disable them. If this works fine then you can go in and do the manual disabling.

You can also go to the Advance tab and under Reset Internet Explorer settings click the Reset... button. Then restart IE and check again. You may also want to restart the computer as well.

Another option is to uninstall IE8 if that's what you are using and go back to IE7 and see if the problem goes away. Then you can reinstall IE8 again.

Finally you can use a different web browser such as Firefox which seems to have less issues than Internet Explorer.
