If you have an Android Wear cellular watch, you can make and receive calls right on your watch.

What you need

  1. Cellular service for your phone
  2. SIM card for your watch
  3. Cellular service for your watch. To check if you have a cellular watch:
  • Android Wear 2.0 and up: Go to Settings > Connectivity , then look for Cellular.
  • Android Wear 1.5 and below: Go to Settings and look for Cellular.
If you don't see a Cellular setting, your watch does not support cellular service.

For more info about getting service for your watch, check with your carrier. If you use the same carrier for watch and phone cellular service, your carrier might offer the ability to share a single number between your phone and your watch.

Make a call

If you're out of Bluetooth range of your phone, the calls you make from your watch use your watch's number.

If your watch is within Bluetooth range of your phone, you can choose to make your call from either your watch's number or your phone's number.

Make a call using your voice

Press the button on the side of your watch and say "Make a phone call."

If pressing the button does not bring up Google Assistant, you're using a different version of Android Wear. Go to the steps below for "Android Wear 1.5 and below."

Answer or reject a call

To answer a phone call: When your watch rings, swipe left.

To reject a phone call: When your watch rings, swipe right.

Options during a call

To see the following options, swipe up from the bottom of your watch screen while you're on a call:
  • To enter in digits during a call, tap Dialpad .
  • To hold a call, tap Pause Call .
  • To mute, tap Mute call .
  • To change the volume, tap Volume .
  • To return to your watch's home screen, press the button on the side of the watch.

Use your watch as a speakerphone

If your watch has a speaker, you can use your watch to answer incoming calls to your phone.
  1. If your watch screen is dim, tap the screen to wake up the watch.
  2. Tap Settings .
a)  If you don't see Settings, you're using a different version of Android Wear. Go to the steps below for "Android Wear 1.5 and below."
      3. Tap Connectivity Bluetooth Play phone audio on watch.
      4. Make sure the switch is in the On position.

Forward your phone's calls to your watch

You can receive calls on your watch made either to your watch's number or to your phone's number by setting up call forwarding. Call forwarding will cause unanswered calls to your phone to automatically forward to your watch.

Note: Verizon does not yet support calls when out of Bluetooth range of your phone. If your watch is within Bluetooth range of your phone, you can use your watch as a speakerphone for your phone’s calls.

Emergency calls

You can make an emergency call at any time, even if the SIM is locked or invalid.
  1. From your apps menu, tap Phone .
  2. Swipe left until you see the dialpad.
  3. Dial 911 if you're in the United States, or other local emergency number.
It is possible to send an emergency text message to 911 with the voice action “OK Google, send a text to 911.” However, since voice transcription is not 100% accurate, we strongly recommend that you call 911 instead of text 911 in a real emergency situation.
