HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, on Tuesday launched its latest most affordable 4G smartphone – Nokia 2 – with two-day long battery life in Bangladesh, said a press release.

The two-day battery life comes as a boon for the digitally savvy customers. This amazing device equipped with 5-inch LTPS LCD HD display is the first branded 4G smartphone available in the country with a price tag below 10 thousand taka, according to the press release.

The device was launched along with Airtel’s bundle offer for subscribers to experience the best of what the device can offer which is the two-day long battery life and with the Airtel bundle which includes voice, data and content.

Thanks to the bundle deal, the smartphone worth Tk 9,600 comes with 300 minutes of voice calls, 9B data out of which 6GB can be used for any purpose and 3GB can be used to access Airtel TV and Airtel-Yonder Music app.

This offer is given to customers for 3 months from the date of purchase with a validity of 15 days in each month at no additional cost to the customer, which is a saving of 1,850 taka. As for the exclusive content, Airtel TV is offering rich streaming of 40+ live local & international TV channels which include Live Sports like Gazi TV as well as Airtel Yonder Music which offers more than 20 million local & international songs that also has karaoke functionality.

The Nokia 2 along with the Airtel bundle offer will be available from any of the Airtel experience centres, Robi Sheba centres and retail outlets selling Nokia devices across the country.

The 4G smartphone will be available in Pewter/Black, Pewter/White and Copper/Black.

Its impressive two-day battery life does not come at the expense of the device performance. Combining a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Mobile Platform and a 5-inch, high quality display with the pure, secure and up to date Android™ experience, the Nokia 2 offers technology that customers can depend on, all day every day.

Speaking on the occasion, HMD Global chief product officer Juho Sarvikas said, “People rely on their phones so much these days with many people subconsciously rationing their battery life when out and about so they can last the day.

“We don’t think you should have to do less with your phone which is why we created a smartphone that can power through when other devices need a pit stop.

“With the Nokia 2, we wanted to replicate the unique Android experience we’ve delivered so far with the long-lasting battery which so many fans associate and expect from their Nokia phones. To make this a reality, every component of the Nokia 2- from the display to battery, chipset to system design - has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery to give fans a long-lasting phone they can rely on,” he added.

Speaking at the launching event, Robi’s managing director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said, “As we are eagerly waiting for the introduction of 4G technology in Bangladesh, our first priority is to create the eco-system for our valued customers so that they can enjoy the full benefits of this exciting new technology.

“In this connection, we believe, the launch of the most affordable branded 4G smartphone with a battery life of two days along with an Airtel bundle offer will prove to be an irresistible offer for our customers.”

The Nokia 2 delivers unrivalled durability in design, drawing on all the hallmarks of the Nokia phone heritage of quality, simplicity and reliability.

Its sleek frame is precision-machined from a single block of aluminium while Corning® Gorilla® Glass is complemented by sculpted polycarbonate on the back delivering both a great feel and the build-quality the users expect from a Nokia smartphone.

Premium materials and thoughtful, ergonomic design combine to create a unique model that's as practical as it is stylish, leaving the users free to enjoy an affordable, long-lasting smartphone experience.

It’s not just about the high capacity 4100 mAh battery, the 5-inch LTPS LCD HD display offers a bright, crisp viewing experience while delivering lower power consumption. The Nokia 2 gives the users the freedom to fully immerse themselves in continuous entertainment – from HD videos and crisp, clear photos to favourite songs, social media, and web browsing – without worrying about running out of battery.

With an 8MP rear camera featuring automatic scene detection and auto focus, the Nokia 2 ensures the customers get fantastic shots every time. Using the 5MP front camera, you can capture the moment from any angle. It will always have the extra capacity users need for the memories they capture with its dedicated memory card slot and unlimited photo and video uploads to Google Photos, according to press release.
