WABetaInfo have gone through the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android and discovered what will be coming in the next big update.
And the Facebook-owned chat app look set to be introducing one feature that it’s been missing since launch.
The latest WhatsApp beta version updates the ‘Change Number’ feature.
This allows users to migrate their account information, groups, and settings to a brand new number.
And this feature has been given an update that will prove very useful to WhatsApp users that have ditched their old number.
They will now been able to notify all their contacts about having switched from an old number to a new one.
WhatsApp users can even narrow this down to contacts they’ve had chats with or any specific contacts.
The feature has popped up in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.18.97.
To use the updated Change Number feature, go to the WhatsApp Settings and then Account and then select Change Number.
After doing then, tap the Next button that has appeared in the top-right corner and enter your old and new phone numbers.
Tap Next again and then enable the Notify My Contacts option.
Then you need to select from All contacts, Contacts I have chats with and Custom.
The feature is currently in the beta version of WhatsApp, but should be coming to the regular version on iOS and Android soon.
The latest WhatsApp beta release also revealed that the chat app is rolling out support for QR codes that enable monetary transactions.
To be able to send money with QR codes, you will have to enable WhatsApp payments.
To use the feature, WhatsApp users have to setting Settings > Payments > New Payment and then QR code.
This will then open a scanner than will look for a compatible QR code.
Once that QR code is recognised, WhatsApp users can enter the desired amount to initiate the payment.
WhatsApp users have recently also received a time saving new feature.
At the start of the month, WhatsApp introduced stickers that could be added to your photos and videos.
The new stickers allow users to tag a location, as well as the current time, on any photos and videos sent to an individual recipient, or group chat.
And now WhatsApp have tweaked this feature in a recent patch.
The feature lets WhatsApp users search for the sticker they want in the doodle view.
The new feature will appear at the top of the WhatsApp stickers menu.
This is accessed by pressing the plus icon next to the text bar on the chat menu, then choosing ‘photo & video library’ and then pressing the emoji icon.
When you type in a keyword into the WhatsApp stickers search bar, it will show all relevant stickers.
