Fitbit has issued an update for its Ionic and Versa smartwatches, which introduces a host of new features.

Key among the new features is the ability for women to track their menstrual cycles, which the firm says is one of its most requested features.

The ‘female health tracking’ tool, available through the Fitbit app on the compatible smartwatches, will roll out this month.

Once users begin logging their cycles they will receive alerts a couple of days before their period is about to begin.

It’ll also offer an insight into the fertile window for couples hoping to get pregnant, or avoid doing so.
