  • Your principle role will be to ensure all vessel operations flow smoothly and that all team members are kept up to date. This means a Shipping Manager must maintain day-to-day contact with individuals working in berth planning, commercial and operational roles.
  • Shipping management involves assuming responsibility for vessel operations within the scope of your job description. This includes securing berth to all vessels on arrival at port and arranging bunkers. It also involves arranging phase-in and phase-out procedures/schedules whenever new tonnage is delivered.
  • As a Shipping Manager you will be expected to play an active part in team communications for achieving and delivering results.
  • The Shipping Manager is expected to optimise bunker costs without jeopardising a vessel’s own schedule. They will also need to secure optimal resources utilised on vessels in port to maintain an overall schedule.
